This Weekend at SRN – Jan. 24-25 Edition

IN THIS EDITION:

  • Thank you for praying for the protection of human life
  • Kicking off Catholic Schools Week: Join our SRCS students, teachers, and administrators for a STREAM Expo after Sunday Masses Jan. 25!
  • A Look Ahead: Upcoming Events in January & February
  • Parish Calendar: What’s On the Horizon next week

Thank you for praying to protect human life

Starting Jan. 16 through tomorrow, Catholics nationwide have been praying the 9 Days for Life novena for the protection of human life and an end to abortion. 9 Days for Life is an annual novena encompassing the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on Jan. 22.

On that day, we paused as a Church to proclaim a truth that is at the very heart of our faith: every human life is sacred, created in the image and likeness of God, known and loved by Him from the moment of conception until natural death.

The sanctity of life is not an idea we hold only in words: it is something we are called to live. It asks us to protect the unborn who have no voice, to accompany mothers and fathers in difficult moments, and to honor the dignity of every person, especially the most vulnerable among us.

This same reverence for life was quietly lived out on Thursday in a beautiful way. Despite hazardous road conditions, Father Tony made his way to one of our local nursing homes, a favorite part of his week, to celebrate Mass for the residents there. When it would have been understandable to stay home, he chose to go to those who often feel forgotten, bringing them the Eucharist.

May we continue to pray for the unborn, for their mothers and families, and for the grace to always recognize Christ in every human person and every stage of life, especially in the smallest, the frailest, and the most vulnerable among us.

For additional ways to pray for and promote a culture of life, visit the Diocese of Grand Rapids website, or connect with our SRN Respect Life Committee.
