A Look Ahead to November: All Saints & All Souls
|
The Solemnity of All Saints on Sunday, Nov. 1 is a holy day of obligation this year because it falls on a weekend. On that day, the Church celebrates all the holy men and women known and unknown who now share in the glory of heaven. Their witness reminds us that holiness is possible for every one of us. Come for weekend Mass: Saturday, 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 9:00 or 11:00 a.m.
|
Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls) is Monday, Nov. 2: For Catholics, November is also the month of the Holy Souls in Purgatory. The Catechism teaches: “All who die in God’s grace and friendship but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death, they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven.” (CCC 1030)
|
Those suffering but hopeful souls whom our prayers assist will someday be in heaven and will pray for us. And so, November is an ideal time to help the Holy Souls through prayer and acts of love and charity. You will notice the names of those from our parish who’ve died during the past year on the cover of the Nov. 1 bulletin as well as vigil candles set up in front of the altar in November to remember them. These are ways to honor our beloved parishioners who have entered into Eternal Life this past year. Please pray for the repose of their souls.
From Nov. 1-8, Catholics have the opportunity to gain indulgences for the faithful departed. We’ll share more about that in next weekend’s bulletin.

25+ St. Robert Ministries will be represented!
It’s back! November 7-8 is Stewardship Weekend at St. Robert and we’re bringing back the Get to Know Your Parish event. After weekend Masses, stop into Newminster Hall where representatives from more than 25 parish ministries will be available to answer questions and welcome your participation if you’re ready to join as a volunteer. Each ministry will be in the hall for at at least 30-40 minutes to give you time to see the wealth of opportunities to put your time, talent and treasure to good use in our Church and our community. We invite you to pray and discern ahead of time about where God may be calling you.
Refreshments will be served and a Kids Zone will be available to keep your young ones occupied as you peruse the various tables.
St. Robert is a big church but it doesn’t have to feel that way! Come find out how you can get involved in a way that speaks to your heart, find fellowship and serve the Lord and others in meaningful ways.
View our Parish Ministry Guide online on our website.
Stewardship Month in November November is widely known in the Catholic Church as Stewardship Month. November is also the month in which Catholics in the United States celebrate Thanksgiving, the heart of which is gratitude. This makes November an ideal time of year to focus our spiritual lives more intently on gratitude for the blessings of the Lord and to respond by living and serving with hearts formed by charity, courage and hope. Please prayerfully consider where God is calling you to serve and take time Nov. 7 & 8 to discover the many ministries of our parish where you can put your faith into action.

Wrapped in Hope: Supporting survivors of domestic violence
|
This year’s fall parish service project is a toy drive and parish event to support Safe Haven Ministries which, last year alone, provided emergency shelter to 317 women and children seeking safety from domestic violence. TOY DRIVE DETAILS: We are inviting parishioners to purchase and donate NEW, UNWRAPPED toys and games for infants through teenagers. The toys/games will be delivered to Safe Haven and given to children and teens currently living with their mothers in a local domestic violence shelter. Now through Tuesday, Nov. 10, we invite you to purchase (at a store of your choosing) a NEW toy for a child/young person (infant through age 17), bring it to the church UNWRAPPED and place it in the black collection bins in the narthex under the bulletin board near Door D or outside the parish office.
You may also purchase a gift from our Amazon Wish List and have it shipped directly to the church (St. Robert of Newminster Church, 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301). ALL PARISH EVENT—Nov. 11 | PLEASE JOIN US ON: Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026 | 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in Newminster Hall Click the graphic above for all the collection & event details. Questions? Wednesday, Nov. 4: Sixth grade Vocation Awareness Day at St. Robert
During this new diocesan initiative from the Office of Catholic Schools and Office of Priestly Vocations to promote vocations on Wednesday, Nov. 4, we are excited to be one of three schools hosting students for Mass, a keynote talk and vocational witness. Around 200 sixth graders from schools around the diocese will be with us on our campus that day.
|
Bishop Walkowiak will celebrate Mass. All parishioners and visitors are invited to attend Mass that morning. Afterward, the bishop will visit the classrooms of St. Robert School.
MASS TIME CHANGE: Mass on Nov. 4 will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. instead of our usual time of 9:00 a.m.
All of this will take place during National Vocation Awareness Week (Nov. 1-7). During the Vocation Awareness Days that week, over 700 6th- and 11th-grade students will come together for Mass, prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, vocation testimonies, fellowship, and fun. The hope is that our young people will not simply hear about vocations but encounter men and women who are joyfully living out their vocation and have given their lives to Christ.

Final week for Coats for Kids
|
There’s just a week left to donate coats for the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids drive!
All coats collected during the drive will be donated to the children and families of our sister parish Holy Name of Jesus-San Juan Diego Academy in Wyoming, MI. This drive helps ensures that no child in that community will go without a coat this winter.
|
Drop off new and gently used coats in the labeled collection boxes at Doors B and C in the narthex this weekend or throughout the coming week up through Nov. 1.
Questions? Email the Knights of Columbus at kofc8117@gmail.com.
