The Church alive: Reflecting on the ways God is working through our parish family

by Katie Mendenhall, director of pastoral care/faith formation coordinator

I am nearing my two-year anniversary of working at St. Robert, and I continue to be in awe of how blessed I am to serve a parish filled with people who desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Lately, I have found myself stepping back and reflecting on all that is happening here. When you are in the midst of the day-to-day life of a parish, it can be easy to miss just how much good is happening. I want to shed some light on what your generosity, prayers, and the quiet service of so many volunteers are making possible.

Read the full article in this weekend’s (Oct. 18) bulletin online p. 2, or pick up a copy at Masses on Sunday.

Meet us in the narthex this weekend!

One of the advisory bodies that Father Tony relies on in his ministry is the Pastoral Council.

Pastoral Council members do not listen only to God’s Spirit; they are called to listen to other parishioners, to be a conduit that brings to the council meetings the cares and concerns that are brought to them.

This weekend, members of the pastoral council will be available in the narthex after Masses to meet and talk with parishioners. Stop and say hello, strike up a conversation, share ideas, feedback or other suggestions.

After conversing with a pastoral council member on Sunday following Mass, stop up to Newminster Hall for even more community and a delicious donut! Everyone is welcome!

Election Resources for Catholic Voters

The Diocese of Grand Rapids and the Michigan Catholic Conference have many excellent resources for Catholic voters preparing for the midterm elections. Check out their websites below and form your conscience before voting!

Election resources for Catholics, from the Diocese of Grand Rapids

Election resources from the Michigan Catholic Conference

Voter resources from the MCC and USCCB are also available on the tables around our narthex. Pick up copies the next time you’re in church!

Is fall closet cleanout happening at your house?

Have the kiddos or adults in your household outgrown their cold weather gear between now and last winter? If you’re cleaning out closets this fall and have gently used winter coats that no longer fit, consider donating them to the Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids drive happening all October long!

All coats collected during the drive will be donated to the children and

families of our sister parish Holy Name of Jesus-San Juan Diego Academy in Wyoming, MI. This drive helps ensures that no child in that community will go without a coat this winter.

Drop off new and gently used coats in the labeled collection boxes at Doors B and C in the narthex this weekend or throughout the coming days up through Oct. 31.
