Cherub Choir: Kindergarten to 2nd Grade
St. Cecilia Choir: 3rd Grade to High School
Vox Lumen Choir: High school and middle school students (by audition)

The mission of this choral program is to encourage and support our youth in their spiritual and musical education in order to serve the worship experience of our community. Youth Choirs (Cherub, St. Cecilia and Vox Lumen)  |  Parental Consent Form and Parent/Student Contract

The Cherub Choir is open to all students in grades K-2 and sings preludes for Masses and sits with their families during Mass. The majority of our rehearsal time: SRCS/Home School students rehearse Tuesdays from 2:50-3:30 p.m. and parish students attending other schools rehearse Wednesdays from 4:30-5:00 p.m. – is spent learning to produce a healthy choral tone, learning how to read notes and rhythms, and experiencing the joy of making music. The Cherub choir sings for Masses four or five times per year. Rehearsals begin this fall until the spring.

The St. Cecilia Choir is open to all students in grades 3-8 who attend St. Robert of Newminster School and other local public and private schools. Choir rehearsals are: Wednesdays from 2:50-3:50 p.m. for SRCS/Home School students and Tuesdays from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for parish students attending other schools. The choir sings for parish liturgies every three weeks. During rehearsals, the choristers learn not only the liturgical repertoire, but also music theory and vocal technique. Our St. Cecilia Choir holds membership in the American Federation Pueri Cantores and participates in local, national, and international choral festivals. A modest fee is requested for participation in the season, covering the costs of binders, choral music, and festival registrations. Rehearsals begin this fall until the spring.

The Vox Lumen (Voice of Light) Choir is open to 7th and 8th graders (by audition), as well as high school and college-aged singers and is comprised mainly of St. Cecilia Choir alums who wish to continue to sing in a parish choir. The Vox Lumen Choir sings for various liturgies and combines with Chamber Choir for High Feasts and Solemnities. The choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoons from 5:00-6:00 p.m. and sings for parish liturgies every three weeks from September to May.
