Group Descriptions

Chamber Choir

This ensemble is dedicated to celebrating the choral arts as a living vibrant tradition in the Roman Catholic Church. Members are men and women from various musical backgrounds and a wide variety of professions. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights at 6:30 P.M. All parts are needed; Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. This ensemble serves the mass on Sunday mornings.

St. Robert’s Youth Choirs
Youth Choir

 Grades 2 to High School. They will meet on Wednesdays, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.

RSCM (Royal School of Church Music) training is essential to our process. The mission of this choral program is to encourage and support our youth in their spiritual and musical education in order to serve the worship experience of our community.

Resurrection Choir

This is an extremely important pastoral ministry to those who are grieving the loss of a loved one.  Meeting an hour prior to the funeral we uplift the Mass of the Resurrection to support those in need.  Please sign up to be contacted for this beautiful ministry.

Cantors – Leaders of Song/Psalmists

This is a ministry for those who have strong vocal technique and leadership skills. Cantors have an essential role in serving the Mass.   Anyone interested in the cantor program should contact Jane VanHouten.

Newminster Schola Cantorum

A select choral ensemble of approximately 16 musicians from the Chamber Choir who display the highest musical excellence. The group explores a challenging repertoire ranging from classical part songs and Renaissance motets to contemporary compositions. Note reading and personal practice is expected. By audition only. They will meet every other Thursday at 7:00 pm.

Newminster Ringers 

This is a unique and fun ensemble that rings chimes and handbells. Members are expected to have basic to advanced music reading skills. Please contact Jane VanHouten, Music Director, if interested in joining the fun! They meet Tuesdays at 7:00 pm.

Instrumentalists (HS-Adult)

If you play an instrument, you are encouraged to join us.  Please contact Jane VanHouten to see which group you should join.  Percussionists, guitarists, bass players, strings, brass and woodwinds are all encouraged to play.  A variety of different instruments can add a whole new dimension to the music life of a parish.
