As part of the U.S. Catholic Church’s Missionary Cooperation Plan, at Masses this weekend, we are happy to welcome Monsignor Mike Hazard, a priest of the Diocese of Kalamazoo! Monsignor Mike is a Senior Priest in Residence at St. Ambrose Parish in Parchment, Michigan, and a hospital chaplain at Ascension Borgess.

Though his roots and active ministry are in the Diocese of Kalamazoo, he previously served as a missionary and vicar-general for the Catholic Diocese of Lodwar in Kenya. The missionary church in the remote Turkana region, part of the Lodwar Diocese, shares a close historical connection and sister-diocese relationship with the Kalamazoo diocese.
Read more on the Diocese of Lodwar website: https://dioceseoflodwar.org/diocese-of-kalamazoo.
Monsignor Mike will share with us about the Diocese of Lodwar, and is asking for our support for ministries in that Diocese, including education, access to clean water, support for clergy and religious, and health care provided through the Lodwar Diocese.
How to Give: Please prayerfully consider making a donation in support of the ministries of the Diocese of Lodwar. Pick up a giving envelope on the tables around the narthex this weekend and place your donation inside. Before or after Masses this weekend, please place your envelope in one of the drop boxes near the church entrances. Please make checks payable to “St. Robert of Newminster” with “Diocese of Lodwar” in the memo line. The parish business office will then write one check to the Diocese of Grand Rapids for all donations collected; the diocese in conjunction with the Missions Office will then ensure the funds are routed to the Diocese of Lodwar. Thank you for your gift and prayers!

Senior Citizen Picnic volunteer sign ups are open!

Volunteer power is one of the reasons our Senior Citizen Picnic is such a smashing success each year. We’ve heard from our senior neighbors after the event about how much it means to them to be welcomed into and cared for by our community at the picnic.
We encourage families, and adults of all ages to serve in this outreach ministry.
There are many ways to get involved from setup, to donating baked goods, to serving our seniors during the event, to cleaning up afterward, and much more!
Click the button below to view volunteer roles and sign up online, or stop by the picnic bulletin board in the narthex of the church (near Door D) and sign up using the clip boards found there.
To read about the history of the picnic, how to donate gift cards or order from the Amazon Wish List (items ordered are given to our senior guests as raffle and game prizes), and more visit https://strobertchurch.org/events/senior-citizen-picnic/.
