What does “Faith Formation” really mean?
|
Writing for our Sept. 6 parish bulletin, Hans Whitmer shares, “When I tell people my job is the Director of Faith Formation I am often asked, ‘What is faith formation? Is it the same as CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine)? Is it just for kids? Do my kids need to attend if they are not preparing to receive a sacrament?'”

Come sing with us this fall!
|
God gave each of us a voice — let’s use it to praise Him!
This fall, Jane VanHouten, director of liturgical music at St. Robert, invites children and adults of our parish — to join our parish choirs!
Whether you’ve been singing for years or have never sung in a choir before, there’s a place for you.

Permanent change to Tuesday Mass and Eucharistic Adoration times begins Sept. 15
|
Mass and adoration times on Tuesday evening at St. Robert will permanently change to 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. respectively beginning Sept. 15.
The new Mass and adoration times will correspond with elementary and middle school faith formation start times on Tuesdays, expanding the opportunity for parents bringing their children to faith formation classes to attend Mass and adoration.
Eucharistic Adoration at 6:15 on Tuesdays will now take place in the Eucharistic Chapel (enter through Door C, or handicap accessible Door D) instead of the Sanctuary and will be available until 7:00 p.m.
At 7:15 p.m., Millions of Monicas will meet in the Eucharistic Chapel as has been their regular Tuesday evening practice. Individuals present for adoration who wish to continue to pray after 7:00 p.m. will be asked to move into the Sanctuary of the church.
If you have any questions about this change, please contact the parish office, (616) 676-9111, or ParishMail@strobertchurch.org.

On Thursday, August 27, our Knights of Columbus held their annual Picnic with Father Tony! We are so grateful for the Knights and their service to our St. Robert community!
|
As faith formation classes and ministry for kindergarten through high school students get ready to begin in September and October, volunteer catechists and assistants met for orientation and training on Sept. 2 led by our faith formation ministry team.
Our parish’s catechists help the next generation come to know and love God by volunteering in our parish’s religious education program. They work in close partnership with parents, who are considered the first and primary teachers of the faith for their children. We are so grateful for them!
If you feel called to serve as a catechist or assistant, please contact Michelle Ptak, faith formation assistant, MichelleP@strobertchurch.org, or (616) 676-9111, ext. 113.
