Let Freedom Ring—and Faith Flourish

Celebrating 250 years: One nation, many blessings

As we prepare to celebrate the anniversary of our country’s independence, Father Tony, Liz Peters, and all the staff of our parish and school want to wish you and your families a blessed and happy fourth of July!

Join us for Mass on July 4

In addition to our regular weekend Mass schedule at St. Robert on July 4/5, Father Tony will celebrate our 9:00 a.m. first Saturday Mass on Independence Day. As you gather to celebrate our nation’s birthday, make the Eucharist part of your holiday tradition. Consider inviting loved ones and friends to join you at Mass. What better way to pray for our country and give thanks for the freedoms we cherish as a nation? And not just our freedoms as citizens of this country, but freedom as a fundamental Christian value. As St. John Paul II recognized, “True freedom consists not in doing what we like but in doing what we ought.”

PLEASE NOTE ON FRIDAY, JULY 3:

  • The Parish Office will be closed.
  • 9:00 a.m. Mass on July 3 WILL still be celebrated.
  • Eucharistic Adoration is canceled on July 3.

If you’ll be traveling over the holiday weekend, Masstimes.org makes it easy to find a Mass near you. (Be sure to call ahead to confirm schedules!)

Welcoming our senior neighbors Aug. 8

Our St. Robert Senior Citizen Picnic committee has been busy setting up an attention-grabbing bulletin board in our church narthex with plentiful details about our upcoming picnic on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The Senior Citizen Picnic at St. Robert serves our senior neighbors in low-income housing from various facilities throughout West Michigan. For some seniors, it’s their only outing of this type during the year.

We’ll be welcoming around 180 guests on Aug. 8 and will need the help of many volunteers (more on that to come!) but right now the committee’s focus is on collecting donations—both physical and monetary– to be given as raffle and door prizes to our senior guests. Every guest will leave with a gift on Aug. 8!

Stop by the bulletin board in the narthex to learn more and grab a gift tag, or visit our picnic web page at https://strobertchurch.org/events/senior-citizen-picnic/ for details.

Summer with the Saints Family Challenge

Too good not to share! Katrina Curtis, director of faith formation at St. Mary Parish in Spring Lake, put together this awesome summer challenge.

Explore the stories of saints whose feast days are in July, and August.

Each saint on the list has a fun “challenge” box to complete that connects to some aspect of their story. There is also information for each feast day that tells a little about the saint and lists their patronages.

Join the fun and keep this summer faithful!

Get started with your family! Click here or on the graphic above to access the St. Mary Google folder and download the challenge details.

On Wednesday, June 24, we had a great evening with our past OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) groups and their families!

We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, played yard games and basketball, enjoyed s’mores around the fire, toured the church, school, and sacristy, and finished the night with a Q&A about the Mass and the Catholic faith.

One of the best parts of OCIA is seeing the friendships that continue long after Easter Vigil. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue learning about the faith, faithfully participate in the Mass, and become more involved in the life of the Church.

Curious about Catholicism?

If you or someone you know has been thinking about becoming Catholic or simply wants to learn more about the Catholic faith, we’d love to talk with you.
