Looking to the saints this faith formation year
|
This faith formation year, our parish Faith Formation Ministry team is especially excited to bring the lives of the saints into our program in a much greater way. These holy men and women remind us that sainthood is not reserved for a select few. It is the universal call of every baptized person, including the children and families entrusted to our care, to strive for sainthood.
|
We recognize that parents are the first and primary educators of their children in the faith. Our hope is to strengthen the domestic church by giving families opportunities and resources to pray and grow together, and bring the faith more deeply into their homes. May everything we do this year lead our young people and their families closer to Christ! Come, Holy Spirit!

At the suggestion of our parish’s Pastoral Council, we would like to remind our parish family that holy water is available for you to take home!
Holy water is a sacramental of the Catholic Church, a sacred sign that disposes us to receive grace and
|
sanctifies the various circumstances of our lives. Each time we bless ourselves with holy water and make the Sign of the Cross, we are reminded of our Baptism. It is a beautiful reminder of our baptismal identity and our call to holiness.
We encourage you to bring holy water into your homes and make it part of your daily life. Bless yourself as you begin and end the day, trace the Sign of the Cross on your children’s foreheads before they leave for school, and use holy water as you pray for your family. Consider placing a holy water font near your front door or in your family’s prayer space as a reminder to turn to the Lord throughout the day.
Our newly refurbished holy water tank, cleaned up and readied for use by parishioner Jessie Beveridge, is now located in the Marian Chapel, see photo above (enter through Door A—the parish offices entrance of our building). You are also welcome to fill your containers from the baptismal font in the church!
Please bring a clean, leakproof container, preferably a bottle specifically designed for holy water, and exercise care and reverence when filling it. Small containers are also available in Marian Chapel to fill.
May the presence of holy water in our homes continually remind us of the promises of our Baptism and our call to live each day as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.
If you have questions about the above, please contact Katie Mendenhall, director of pastoral care/faith formation coordinator, KMendenhall@strobertchurch.org.

High School Youth Group
Have you ever gotten exactly what you wanted, only to eventually want something else? More friends. More attention. More stuff. We spend a lot of time chasing things we think will make us happy, but somehow, we’re always looking for more. What if that longing is actually telling us something?
This Sunday, Oct. 11, we’re talking about the desire every person has for something bigger than ourselves and how the things of this world can
|
be good, but were never meant to completely satisfy us.
ALL HIGH SCHOOLERS (grades 9-12) ARE INVITED for food, games, and small group discussions that might make you think a little differently about what you’re searching for.
High school youth group meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month 6:30 – 8:15 p.m. in the Parish Life Center (enter through Door E). Upcoming meeting dates in October are this Sunday and Oct. 25.
Our youth group theme this year is “To the Heights” (Verso l’alto), inspired by St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, and plenty of exciting things are planned … join us!

Thank you to the young people of our parish who created these beautiful cards filled with messages of care and encouragement for Father Tony on the day our community prayed for the priests of our diocese in September during the priests convocation.
|
Led by our parish’s Respect Life Ministry group, St. Robert parishioners kept peaceful vigil outside Planned Parenthood in Grand Rapids on Oct. 8, praying for life and an end to abortion.
