Help serve our Senior Neighbors Aug. 8
|
The Senior Citizen Picnic on Saturday, Aug. 8 is a unique opportunity for our parish to be the hands and feet of Jesus for our senior neighbors. A tradition that began more than 35 years ago, the picnic serves seniors from low-income nursing homes and senior centers in the Grand Rapids area. For some seniors, it is their only outing for the entire year. The event features lunch, entertainment, games, and prizes and we need your help to make it a success! The Picnic committee is especially in need of young people to run the games area, but many other volunteer opportunities are also available for parishioners of all ages.
Click the button below to view volunteer roles and sign up online, or stop by the picnic bulletin board in the narthex of the church (near Door D) and sign up using the clip boards found there.
To read about the history of the picnic, how to donate gift cards or order from the Amazon Wish List (items ordered are given to our senior guests as raffle and game prizes), and more visit https://strobertchurch.org/events/senior-citizen-picnic/.

Most recently, she served as both the Preschool Director and Kindergarten teacher at St. Mary Catholic School in Big Rapids—a role in which she loved nurturing young learners as they took their first steps in faith and academics.
