Getting ready to welcome our senior neighbors on Aug. 8!
|
On Saturday, Aug. 8 , St. Robert will once again host the Senior Citizen Picnic. This longtime tradition at St. Robert is a special event for senior citizens in low-income housing from various facilities in West Michigan. We expect to welcome 180 guests to St. Robert for a day of fellowship, faith, food and fun. For some of these seniors, this event may be the only outing of this kind they’ll experience this year. Our theme for 2026 is “A Day at the Beach!”
Gift Card Donations Welcome St. Robert parishioners are incredibly generous with their time, talent and treasure and it makes the day special for everyone. Our biggest expenses are transportation and food. The committee is currently accepting gift cards and monetary donations. Gift cards of any amount to Walmart, Target, Meijer, Walgreens, Amazon and Aldi’s are welcome and can be dropped off with Molly Reppuhn in the parish office or given to any of the committee members (see below). Please note “Senior Citizen Picnic” on any monetary donations.
With your generosity, every senior guest receives a gift The bulletin board (pictured above) located outside the coatroom in the narthex has many suggestions for items that can be donated. We also have an Amazon Wish List through which items can be purchased and shipped directly to St. Robert. Donated items are used as raffle prizes. In addition, each of our guests has an opportunity to visit the “Gift Room” and select one item of their choice. These gifts are very meaningful to each of our senior citizen guests. Please note that all gifts should be NEW and non-perishable; candles are not permitted. Donations can be dropped off in the designated bin in the coat room.
A Pork-fect way to give back In the past, we’ve had a generous donation of a pig roast for the picnic. If you, or anyone you know would be willing to donate or offer up a bargain price for a roasted pig, please contact one of our committee members. Watch for updates as summer progresses and our guests head to the beach!
Thank you to our Senior Picnic Committee members: Dawn McDonald, 616-437-1390. Cindy Ritter, 616-240-5990. Anna Crawley, 616-706-6271, and Nancy Castiglione, 616-450-2354.

Mark our nation’s 250th birthday with Mass on July 4
|
On Saturday, July 4, our nation celebrates a historic milestone—its 250th anniversary! Begin this special day in prayer and gratitude by joining us for our First Saturday Mass at 9:00 a.m. We warmly invite our parish community to celebrate together as a way to begin our Independence Day festivities.
To help everyone fulfill their Sunday obligation over the holiday weekend, our regular weekend Mass schedule on July 4/5 is: 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday, along with Sunday Masses at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
As you gather with family and friends to celebrate our nation’s birthday, make the Eucharist part of your holiday tradition. Consider inviting loved ones and friends to join you at Mass. If you’ll be traveling over the Independence Day weekend, find a Mass near you by visiting masstimes.org.
A FEW NOTES ABOUT FRIDAY, JULY 3: - The Parish Office will be closed on Friday, July 3.
- Mass at 9:00 a.m. that day will still be celebrated.
