Join the Safety Team Ministry: Register for a November Informational Session

SRN’s Oct. 12 bulletin (pg. 5) included an important update on the safety and security measures we’ve implemented here at SRN to help protect our parish community.

The latest step in our efforts is the formation of a new ministry: the SRN Safety Team Ministry. This new ministry is meant to ensure a safe and secure environment for parishioners, guests and staff to worship our Lord. Our initial team is now present during Wednesday morning Masses, and once this group is fully established, we plan to expand coverage to weekend Masses. Recruitment is underway for weekend Masses.

Given the responsibilities involved, this ministry requires special training and a clear understanding of safety protocols.

If you have a law enforcement, military, security, fire, EMS, or medical background, or you can keep a cool head in a stressful situation, we’d love to have you join this ministry.

An informational session is scheduled for:

TONIGHT! Sunday, Nov. 2 at 6:00 p.m. in Marian Hall (Enter through Door A)

Additional sessions will be offered Sunday, Nov. 16 and 30.

To register for any November session, visit: https://forms.gle/bVY7ZPNK98x235H49

We’d love to welcome all those who are passionate about keeping our church safe. If you have any questions, please contact Lynn Mossner, director of stewardship and operations, at LMossner@strobertchurch.org, or (616) 676-9111, ext. 124.

Fifth Annual Veterans Day Celebration

Our parish’s Veterans Day celebration hosted by the O.W.L.S. will be Friday, Nov. 14 in the Parish Life Center. During the program we will honor the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication. Come for coffee and treats beginning at  9:30 a.m. followed by the Veterans Day presentation at 10:00 a.m. St. Robert Catholic School students will sing and the guest speakers will be members of the Grand Rapids Honor Guard. Please bring a photo of your veteran or active duty member for the roll call.

There’s still time to have your veteran(s) from any period in our nation’s 249-year history recognized. We’re also seeking the names of active duty military members. Send your veteran’s photo (in uniform), name, branch and years of service, duty, where they served, and your name to Lu Paletta at lupaletta@gmail.com.

If you plan to attend on Nov. 14, please RSVP to Lu at her email shown above.

Lu is also seeking volunteer flag bearers, a volunteer to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and one to read the Missing Man Tribute Poem. Please email her if you can serve in any of these capacities.
