World Mission Sunday collection: Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples
|
This weekend parishes across the diocese including St. Robert of Newminster take up a second collection at Masses for World Mission Sunday (WMS), part of the pope’s Pontifical Mission Societies. The 2025 WMS theme is “Missionaries of Hope Among All Peoples.”
|
The World Mission Sunday collection is a unique, global effort for the entire Church to provide for the support of more than 1,000 mission territories where the Church is young, struggling or persecuted.
Giving envelopes will be available at all entrances into the church. There is also an online giving option on the Diocese of Grand Rapids web page at the link/button shown below.
Learn more and read Bishop Walkowiak’s letter to parishioners (also included on the cover of our Oct. 12 bulletin) on the diocesan website: https://grdiocese.org/world-mission-day/.

Join the Safety Team Ministry: Informational Session this Sunday, Oct. 19
|
SRN’s Oct. 12 bulletin (pg. 5) included an important update on the safety and security measures we’ve implemented here at SRN to help protect our parish community.
|
The latest step in our efforts is the formation of a new ministry: the SRN Safety Team Ministry. This new ministry is meant to ensure a safe and secure environment for parishioners, guests and staff to worship our Lord. Our initial team is now present during Wednesday morning Masses, and once this group is fully established, we plan to expand coverage to weekend Masses. Recruitment is underway for weekend Masses.
Given the responsibilities involved, this ministry requires special training and a clear understanding of safety protocols.
If you have a law enforcement, military, security, fire, EMS, or medical background, or you can keep a cool head in a stressful situation, we’d love to have you join this ministry.
An informational session is scheduled for:
Sunday, Oct. 19 at 6:00 p.m. in Marian Hall (Enter through Door A)
To register, visit: https://tinyurl.com/4f8c4ret
We’d love to welcome all those who are passionate about keeping our church safe. If you have any questions, please contact Lynn Mossner, director of stewardship and operations, at LMossner@strobertchurch.org, or (616) 676-9111, ext. 124.
Above all, let us continue to pray—for the protection of our parish, and for the safety of Christians around the world.

What Else Do I Need to Know?
|
- Baptisms at SRN are celebrated after the Saturday 4:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. Masses. While we want to encourage connection and conversation among our parishioners in the narthex after Masses, when a baptism is occurring, please maintain a sense of quiet and reverence in the area around the baptismal font.
- Visit the SRN website Upcoming Events page for details about events in October and November including the HSA Trunk or Treat on Oct. 23, Youth Choir Camp on Oct. 25/26, the Joy of Advent on Nov. 9 and more!
- Saturday, Nov. 1 is the Solemnity of All Saints. Masses at SRN will be celebrated that day at 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please note: Participation at 4:30 p.m. Mass still fulfills the Sunday obligation, even though it is celebrated with a different formulary than Sunday Masses on Nov. 2 (the Solemnity of All Souls)
- Be sure to join us Sunday, Nov. 2 at 12:30 p.m. for the Blessing, Ribbon Cutting and Open House for the new Parish Activity Center and school expansion. For details, visit
