Digital Content Creator (part-time)

Location: St. Robert of Newminster Parish, Ada, Michigan
Schedule: Part-time non-exempt position through end of summer 2026. NIneteen hours or less per week. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary based on events and liturgical schedule. Flexibility in how weekly hours are scheduled. Possibility for some weekly work to be done remotely.

Position Overview

About the Parish: St. Robert of Newminster is a large and vibrant Catholic parish community of more than 2,000 families and 80+ ministries. Our parish mission and vision are respectively: As a Catholic community, we proclaim the Good News by serving God and neighbor as we grow in loving relationship with Christ. Be a vibrant, welcoming faith community inviting all people to know Christ through worship and sacraments, evangelization and catechesis, charity and service.

We are seeking to hire immediately a creative, motivated, and faith-filled Digital Content Creator to support our communications and evangelization efforts. This paid, part-time position is ideal for a candidate with experience in or studying communications, marketing, media, graphic design, or a related field. Candidates must be active Catholics in good standing; also safe environment trained, or willing to complete the training which can be done virtually online. A criminal background check is a prerequisite for employment.

This position will play a key role in telling the stories of our parish, promoting events and ministries, and helping us engage parishioners, visitors and the broader community across digital platforms in a way that reflects the beauty and mission of the Catholic Church. We will review resumes and schedule interviews with qualified candidates at once.

Basic physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, reaching and occasional lifting (no more than 25 lbs).

Compensation will be an hourly rate between $13.73 – $20 based on skills and experience. A laptop and work space will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and update content for the parish WordPress website, demonstrating a high level of familiarity with WordPress and CMS platforms
  • Design engaging graphics, flyers, and posters for parish events, ministries, and liturgical seasons using Canva
  • Help manage and contribute to parish social media platforms, with an emphasis on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Flickr
  • Shoot and edit photography and video content for use on the website, social media, and in parish communications
  • Assist with digital communications using Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, Sheets, Calendar, etc.)
  • Collaborate with parish staff and ministry leads to ensure content is accurate, timely, and mission-focused
  • Maintain organized digital files and content calendars
  • Stay current with digital media trends and best practices to enhance parish outreach
  • Attend staff and other meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Study of or work experience in communications, marketing, media, graphic design, or related field preferred
  • Practicing Catholic who understands and supports the mission, teachings, and values of the Catholic Church
  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress and content management systems
  • Experience using Canva to create visually compelling graphics
  • Familiarity with social media management, particularly Facebook and Instagram
  • Skills in photography and videography, including basic editing
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and troubleshooting digital tools
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects within the allotted weekly schedule
  • Strong written and visual communication skills
