EDUCATION & FAITH FORMATION
Adult Education
Catechist Certification
Adults who volunteer to teach religion to children and youth are required to engage in ongoing faith formation leading to certification. After eight hours training in four distinct dimensions, St. Robert Parish awards a provisional certificate to its volunteers. The Diocese of Grand Rapids awards certificates for completion of 50 hours of formation.
Everyone who is signed-up to teach or is interested in teaching is welcome to participate in on-going faith formation. A variety of learning formats are available to customize your personal certification process.

Family Library
St. Robert’s Parish Family Library is located in the alcove near the Faith Formation Office. It has many excellent educational tools available to enhance learning of our faith and personal or family growth. The library functions by self-checkout. There are books, videos, DVDs and CDs available on a variety of topics for all ages. Some examples of materials available are parenting books, Veggie Tales, Christian music, children’s bibles, marriage enrichment books and teen topics.
New and good condition used items are always welcome to enhance our library. Consider donating gently used materials that your family no longer uses. Drop-offs can be made at the Faith Formation Offices. The library is open during all church business hours.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith including the process of joining the Catholic Church meet weekly in the fall (Inquiry). When they are ready, the next step (Catechumenate) includes reflection on the Sunday readings followed by a teaching segment exploring the Catholic faith. Following initiation into the Church at the Easter Vigil, weekly meetings (Mystagogy) continue through the Easter Season.
Sponsors are needed to walk alongside each person during the Initiation process that begins in January. You do not have to be a perfect Christian to be a sponsor. The role is that of a mentor who provides encouragement, guidance and honest feedback.

Inquiry – Tuesdays, September 29 – November 17, 2009, 6:30 – 8:00 pm
Catechumenate – Sundays, January 10 – March 28, 2010, 11:00 am – 1:30 pm
