Girls and boys in fourth grade or older who want to assist the priest at Mass are invited to be trained. They will then be scheduled on a rotation basis.

Do you love the word of God? Lectors proclaim the word of God at the weekend liturgies as well as help with the readings at other special services.

Ushers have a special role to play at every parish liturgy. The primary ministry of ushers is to be of service to everyone in the assembly so that all may celebrate the Sacred Liturgy as the holy people of God who became one in Christ

Spiritual Growth
Christian Men’s Group
Men desiring: to live out Christian principles (how to know and walk closer with God) as men (better husbands, fathers, workers, and community-involved citizens); to meet in a small group to share these values and grow in faith and relationship with Christ; meet to study and discuss how to implement these principles in their lives.

Days of Reflection (JoAn Ministries)
A day of reflection is a day set aside to reflect and pray and have some time for yourself. Two times in the summer a day of reflection is planned around a theme.

JoAn Ministries
JoAn Ministries was created in remembrance and to continue the spiritual work of Sr. JoAn Brown, OP, coordinator of pastoral care, spiritual director, and parish spiritual librarian at St Robert’s. We are committed to fostering relationships with the surrounding community and world, creating a culture of peace within ourselves and our environment, and working in harmony with humanity. We do this through individual and group spiritual practices and retreats, weekly prayer groups and prayer line ministries, supporting local food pantries, maintaining the parish spiritual library, and sponsoring students at our sister parish in Verrettes, Haiti. Please join us. Ministry meetings held monthly at St. Robert’s.

Liturgical Celebrations
Weekday Masses take place in the Eucharistic Chapel. Weekend Masses are Saturday: 5:30 pm; Sunday: 9:00 am, 11:00 am and 6:00 pm. Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on Saturdays at 4:15 pm
Pastoral Counseling
When there is a need for some pastoral - spiritual counseling, help is available. The priest and pastoral associates can be of help and can provide professional referrals if necessary.

Prayer Support Groups (JoAn Ministries)

Spiritual Library (JoAn Ministries)
Up-to-date spiritual material as well as spiritual classics are available in book form, audio cassette, CD, DVD, or video. All materials may be borrowed for one month. Open Monday through Friday 8 am - 5:00 pm
St. Lazare’s Weekend Retreats
These annual retreats (one for women, one for men) are weekend retreats directed by the Vincentian Fathers in Spring Lake. Women: Mid-September and Men: Early February.

Newminster Chimes
A chime choir open to grades 2 through 8, no experience necessary.
Newminster Ringers
A handbell ensemble for advanced ringers and music readers of all ages.
Children’s Choirs
Joyful Noise (Kindergarten - Grade 2)
Provides a creative environment for children grades K-2 to experience their faith through song and movement and to share it with our parish community on Sundays throughout the school year.
Saint Cecilia Choir (Grades 3-8)
Provides a nurturing environment for young singers to realize their gift both individually and in the context of community. We celebrate today even as we prepare to lead God’s people in the future.
Newminster Singers (Grade 7 – College)
The group leads the music at 6:00 pm mass and other special events throughout the year.

Cantors – Leaders of Song / Psalmists
Cantors have an important leadership role in the liturgy. They function as a leader of song in addition to proclaiming the Psalm.

Chamber Choir (HS – Adult)
The Saint Robert of Newminster Chamber Choir is dedicated to celebrating the choral art as a living and vibrant tradition in the roman Catholic Church. Our membership consists of men and women from differing musical backgrounds and a wide variety of professions - from international sales to homemaker. Every singer makes a commitment to regular rehearsal. The fruits of this commitment are not only musical, but also spiritual and communal: relationship with one another and our God is at the very core of who we are. We remember former directors and members with gratitude even as we seek out opportunities to welcome new members who share our passion for music and love of the church’s prayer.
VBS Choir Camp
Character building, creativity, and team work are built through the production of musical skits based the theme of VBS. Skills and themes are interwoven to create a week of fun as well as growth! Open to students grades 1-8. This is going to be part of the Vacation Bible School week!
Instrumentalists (HS-Adult)
If you play an instrument, you are encouraged to contact the Director of Music. A variety of different instruments can add a whole new dimension to the musical life of the parish!
Internship in Church Music (HS-College)
This program is designed for high school or college age students who are advanced in keyboard, guitar, or voice study and have an interest in the vocation of music ministry.
Newminster Arts Series
A diverse offering of artists from the parish and broader arts community perform in our church in celebration of the gift of music.
Private Organ Study
Advanced piano students are encouraged to consider organ study. Contact the Director of Music for details.
Summer Enrichment Series
Spend an evening in the cool air conditioning reflecting on a variety of different topics relating to music in the church. These forty-five minute sessions will end with ice cream out on the lawn.
